La prima incarnazione degli Ice Nine Kills è avvenuta nel 2006. Il gruppo originariamente esegue uno stile che unisce pop punk, emo, post-hardcore e ska nella loro miscela innovativa di rock, ma da allora si sono spostati in sonorità più metalcore sperimentale. Il cantante Spencer Charnas è attualmente l’unico membro fondatore rimasto.
